Biography

Goalkeeper Daniel Blockley joined the Rovers in December 2023.

He started playing senior football at Essex Olympian side Buckhurst Hill in 2017 and played virtually every game for the next five and a half years during a very successful period for the club. He won the Essex Olympian League Division One and Essex Premier Cup in the 2017/2018 season, followed by the Essex Olympian Premier Division and Essex Premier Cup in the 2018/2019 season.

He was part of the side that reached the final of the Essex Premier Cup and were on course to retain the Essex Olympian Premier Division title during the 2019/2020 season before the pandemic meant that neither competition was completed. The 2020/2021 season was condensed due to the second lockdown and saw us win the Essex Olympian Premier Division again and achieve promotion to the Thurlow Nunn First Division South (Step 6) for the first time in the club’s history.

During the 2021/2022 season, he was part of the side that reached the last 64 of the FA Vase in the club’s first time in the competition and finished 2nd in the league with 98 points, resulting in promotion to the Essex Senior League.

Danial played every game during the first half of the 2022/2023 season in the club’s first season at Step 5 before suffering a significant hand injury at the same time that the majority of the team left the club. During his time at Buckhurst, he played over 100 games and kept over thirty clean sheets.

He joined Thurlow league side Basildon Town in the summer of 2023 and played every single game of for the first half of the season before linking up with the Rovers in December.

He is a very promising young goalkeeper, an excellent shot stopper with great reactions, and is a good addition to the squad.
