Great Wakering Rovers 2 Bury Town 2
Bury Town were the visitors to a cold and wet Burroughs Park on Tuesday evening.
The visitors started brightly and took the lead after 14 minutes, Rovers failing to clear from a corner and Ryan Jolland was on hand to strike the ball past a crowded box and into the Rovers net.
Eight minutes later it was two for the Suffolk outfit Taylor Hastings with a half volley flying into the net and giving the home side a mountain to climb.
Wakering knew the next goal was critical and it was the home side who clawed themselves back into the game on 56 minutes, a superb ball from Martin Tuohy to find Nathan Fuma who still had plenty to do and after a few step overs found the net from a tight angle.
Rovers could now smell blood , and on 82 minutes they found the equalizer , Ben Brookes playing in sonny Dutton who kept his cool to slot past the bury keeper .
The game was now on a knife edge as both teams were desperate to take all 3 points, and the home side nearly did just that when Martin Tuohy’s wild shot found a bury player who miss kicked the clearance but ended up wide of the goal.
With 3 minutes of added time played it was Burys turn to try and break the home fans hearts, a great shot from the left hand side beating keeper Brown and smashing onto the bar, Rovers kept their composure to clear the ball out for a corner.
A point a piece leaves Bury 8th in the table and Rovers in 17th.
