POTTERS BAR 1 - 1 ROVERS

Rovers remain unbeaten at Potters Bar Town's Parkfield ground in 5 games, stemming back to February 2007, following this ill-tempered 1-1 draw.
As much as the teams tried to play, some very inconsistent and somewhat confusing decisions by the referee were blighting the game and tempers simmered before erupting during injury time.

New signing Dan Stanley from Southend Manor was named in the starting lineup and was involved early on as Jack Carlile was sent through and brought down as he touched the ball past the keeper. As both sets of supporters expected the referee to point to the spot, astonishingly he signalled for a corner, despite strong remonstrations by the Rovers players. The penalty incident was the highlight of a first half that ended with both teams cancelling each other out.

The second half started as the first half ended, both teams struggling to create decent chances and it wasn't until just past the hour when Joe O'Brian smashed home a free-kick that had Rovers keeper Godwin-Green beaten from the moment it left his boot.
The final half hour was all Rovers though and Rovers got their just deserts as Nick Skelton found himself striding towards goal, only to be taken down in the area, which the referee could do nothing other than award the penalty. Midfielder Jack Carlile stepped up to place the ball into the bottom left to give Rovers a share of the points.

As the clock ticked towards 5pm, and the crowd calling for the referee to blow the final whistle, Trenkel was challenged late from behind and arose to confront the offender, Anton Agdomar, who placed his head against Trenkel leaving the referee reaching for the red card. As tempers flared the final whistle was blown to cap a heated cup-tie like match.
