The Rovers lifted themselves off the foot of the Ryman One North table with our first win in 5 months following a superb 2-0 win away at Ware.
There was no underestimating the importance of the win for manager Dan Trenkel as our last win came against Ilford in early October 2011.
A win for fellow strugglers Ware would have left Rovers languishing at the bottom with a mountain to climb. But a penalty from Jack Carlile (pictured) and a goal from Billy Johnson gave the Green & Whites a 2-0 away win.
Rovers took the lead in the 18th minute from the penalty spot after the referee spotted a handball in the area. Jack Carlile stepped up and sent Rhys Madden the wrong way from 12 yards.
And Rovers sealed the win early in the second half when a ball in from the left caused all sorts of problems and the ball ran loose in the box for Billy Johnson to smash home.
The win has moved Rovers three points above Ilford who lost their game in hand, going down 3-2 at home to Ilford on Wednesday night.
