Rovers began life after Dan Trenkel with a point at Waltham Abbey.
The club were left shell-shocked after Trenkel’s departure after four years in charge, with assistant manager Gary Ansell taking charge for the game on Saturday.
And Rovers took a point after back-to-back defeats.
All four goals were scored in 22 first-half minutes, with captain Lewis Sparrow and Jacob Cleaver goals coming either side of two Abbey strikes.
Sparrow put Rovers in front after just five minutes, as the defender burst in to send a header beyond the goalkeeper.
But that lead lasted just seven minutes, as Ryan Flack levelled the match.
And then Christian Assombalonga, brother of Nottingham Forest striker Britt, turned the score line on its head to net.
Ten minutes later Cleaver broke through to score and that was it in terms of goals.
Both sides exchanged chances after the break but neither were able to force the decisive breakthrough, with Ansell and Rovers taking a point back to Burroughs Park.
