It only took 58 seconds for the Rovers to open the scoring as Martin Scored his first of the night from close range. Ben Search was fouled thirty yards from goal and took an out swinging cross which the Frenford keeper tried to claim but the ball was dropped. Frenford tried to clear their lines but Martin was there to tap in his first for the club.

Sadly, the Rovers had a blow after eight minutes when defender Perry Dunn had to go off due to injury, he was replaced by Olli Jenkins but rovers went back to business and extended their lead on seventeen minutes.

A brilliant build up play was started by Luis Shamshoum, the ball was passed right through to midfield up to Hafeez Elegushi who played the ball out wide to Danny Cossington who played a brilliant diagonal ball across the area. An Frenford defender attempted to clear the ball but miss hit the ball and once again Anthony Martin was there to place the ball into the bottom left corner to bag his brace and the rovers second of the night.

Just after that goal, Frenford’s Foster was sin binned for dissent. This seemed to give Frenford an incentive as they had two chances of going close. Rovers then had a good chance of adding a third when Harry Talbot’s corner was just missed by the head of Harrison Topliss.

Frenford’s first chance saw them head the ball onto the cross bar and then the ball was played through to their player who was through on goal but Shamshoum did his best to make himself look big and forced the Frenford player to sky his effort way over the goal.

HALFTIME ROVERS 2-0 FRENFORD

Just after the second half started, rovers added their third of the game. Ben Search surged out to the wing and dribbled past two Frenford defenders before crossing the ball into the box which seemed to go straight into the keeper’s hands but skipper Danny Cossington ran in to head the ball into the roof of the net.

For the rest of the second half, rovers played some brilliant combinations of keeping the ball to tire out the Frenford players and made some opportunities to extend their lead but to no avail.

There wasn’t anything to report about the second half until Frenford managed to grab a consolation goal ten minutes from time.
