Rovers let slip a 3-0 lead

Match report courtesy of Luke, the Stat Man.

It was eventful game at Trafford Park with two sides who could have won it at the end. Rovers started the livelier of the two and opened the scoring on the 9th minute with some good link up play down the left between Matt Rose and Billy Johnson before Johnson's through ball to Eusebio Da Silva CA who finished past the advancing keeper.

The goal woke up the hosts who went on to create chances and went closest hitting the bar in the 24th minute and a headed attempt from a corner in the 45th minute.

Second half Wroxham started as they finished the first half and Hayden hit a volley wide, a minute later Yun was played through and forced a good save from Rovers keeper Harry Fairs.

Fairs was called into action two minutes later with a triple save from Black with a shot from range and then Miles was denied with a follow up and again before Fairs pushed the ball out of play.

Rovers got their second against the run of play as Eusebio Da Silva was released down the left hand side and after good hold up play laid the ball off to Billy Johnson, who's deep cross was volleyed back across goal by Kewin Kwiek who found the bottom corner. Three minutes later Rovers looked out of sight as Rob Lacey tackled clearance is chased down to Eusebio Da Silva who pressured Skipper, winning the ball and went through, unselfishly passed across to Alex Hernandez who slotted in to the bottom corner.

Wroxham made a double substitution in the 63rd minute with Hawkins and Olpin injecting some life into Wroxham. The Yachtsmen were rewarded with a goal back in the 70th minute with the ball played through with a deflection off a Rovers defender which Miles picked up and slotted past Fairs. The assistant referees flagged was raised and after consultation with the referee the goal was awarded.

Chances came thick and fast as the legs began to tire with Hayden having a shot saved by Harry Fairs on the 73rd minute before Wroxham keeper Sutton pulled off a fantastic save from Billy Johnson's volley after good play down the right from Archie McFadden (78th minute).

Wroxham then got a second with 10 minutes to go when Hawkins picked up the ball centre of the Rovers goal and fires a low shot from outside the area into the bottom left. Wroxham continued their pressure and King's header was well saved by Fairs. From the resulting corner Fairs came deep to collect the ball and missed, the ball bounced around the box before Hayden headed in the equaliser on the 82nd minute.

Both teams could have won it in the last five minutes of the game with chances falling to Miles and Hayden for Wroxham and Rose and Johnson for Great Wakering.
