Highworth Town 2-3 Great Wakering Rovers

Perry Dunn scored a last-minute winner to send Great Wakering Rovers into the quarter-finals of the FA Vase in a nail biting victory against Highworth Town.

It was a tight affair with both teams looking to move within three wins from Wembley and an FA Vase final, and Rovers were the team to strike first.

Kingdom Dawson opened the scoring four minutes into the game and it was in spectacular fashion as he hammered home a shot from distance after he cut inside from the right.

But Highworth fought back in the later stages of the first half. It was from the penalty sport after Luke Whelan was taken down from Harrison Topliss and Sol Pryce stepped up and kept his cool to level the score.

But three minutes before the break, the Rovers regained their lead with Harry Talbot putting the Rovers ahead going into halftime.

The second half saw both sides attack and chase victory, which would soon award Highworth. And it was the ever-dangerous Pryce who would cause damage to the Rovers from a set piece. Callum Bloss lunged to stop a Highworth attack thirty yards from goal but this resulted in a free kick and was punished with a caution. Pryce this time hitting a rocket into the top corner into the Rovers net.

As it was heading into extra time, Perry Dunn broke the hearts of Highworth Town as he headed in a looping header from a Jake Gordon corner five minuted into added time to send the Rovers into the quarter finals of the FA Vase for the first time in their history.
