Cockfosters 0 Great Wakering Rovers 2
Great Wakering Rovers eased to a comfortable victory over Spartan South Midland League Division One side Cockfosters thanks to a couple of goals midway through the first half.
Cockfosters had the brighter of the opening exchanges, but one the Rovers found their rhythm the result was never rally going to be in any doubt.
Dan Williams fired Great Wakering ahead with an assured finish after twenty-one minutes. Six minutes later Jay Nash doubled the lead with a shot low to the Cockfosters goalkeepers’ left.
Despite a rally during the second half which saw several chances go begging for the home team, in truth they did not full extend Rovers custodian Louis Godwin-Green. In fact, the visitors almost added to the scoring when Ashley Hawkins thundering shot cannoned back off the crossbar.
All in all a good workout for the Rovers, and what is more a moral boosting victory to boot.
