The former Rovers player and former Basildon Town manager Marcus Bowers was installed as the manager a few months into the start of the 2023/24 season. As a player, Marcus has played 279 senior games and scored 191 goals, 128 of those for Basildon Town.

During his spell as a player with Town, they clinched a historic Olympian League Division One and League Cup double during the 2016/17 campaign. during that season, the former striker played fifty games and scored over thirty goals.

He then went on to have spells at various clubs including Great Wakering Rovers, Tilbury, Catholic United and Witham Town before he rejoined Basildon Town in 2020 as their first team player/coach.

Marcus and his coaching staff guided Basildon Town to back-to-back runners-up of the Essex Olympian League Premier Division and to their highest level of football to the Thurlow Nunn League/step 6, and just missed out on promotion to the Essex Senior League last season by a solitary point in the 2022/23 season.

Marcus is a young and ambitious manager who devotes his time to make sure his team are fit and organised and looks to build on long-term progress to achieve success.
