Having played Stansted 17 times before, Rob Lilley delves a little deeper into the facts and figures

We have a long tradition of playing Stansted, having played against them in our first season of senior football in the ESL.

In total we have played them 17 times, Rovers winning 9 times, Stansted 5 times with 3 draws. Rovers have scored 35 goals and Stansted 20.

In our first appearance against them we succumbed to a 3-2 home defeat on the 10th October 1992. Rovers goals that day were scored by Neil Ramsay and Howard Mackler.

Rovers biggest win came on 4th March 1995, a 5-0 win at home in the ESL. Five different scorers were on the list that day, Paul Flack, Jimmy Abblitt, Neil Ramsay, John Heffer and Joe Appiah.
Neil Ramsay is the highest scoring striker for Rovers against Stansted with 5 goals.

If we take a look at the actual fixture, Stansted at home, there have been 8 games. Rovers have won 4 games, Stansted 2, with 2 draws. Rovers have scored 15 and Stansted 11.

Rovers have not beaten Stansted away since a 3-0 win in the ESL on the 23rd November 1996 and our heaviest defeat came on the 8th November 1997 when we lost 5-1 away in the ESL, Andy Howard scoring Rovers only goal on the day.
