A look back at what the fixture provided in the past

Rovers have played Basildon United on 19 ocassions since our records started in August 1992.
In total, Rovers have won 11 games, Basildon 6 with 2 draws. Rovers have scored 37 goals, Basildon United 28.

The first game took place on the 17th October 1992, an Essex Senior League match, in which Basildon won 3-0 at home. Rovers exacted some revenge in the return fixture, winning 3-2 at home on the 3rd April 1993, goals coming from Spencer Rush, Richard Woodley and Paul Leggett.

The following season Basildon did the double in the league over Rovers, winning 2-1 and 3-0 at home and away respectively. This remains the only time Basildon have won both home and away in the league in the same season.

Rovers biggest win came on the 14th October 1995, a 4-0 away win in the ESL in front of a bumber 155 crowd. Our goalscorers that day were Paul Flack (2), Lee Maddocks and Jimmy Ablitt.

Three seasons later Basildon would record their biggest win, a 5-1 away win in the Harry Fisher Memorial Trophy on the 10th November 1998.

Kevin Maddocks is the only Rovers manager who remained unbeaten against Basildon in all competitions, facing them 6 times, winning 5 and drawing once. His sides grabbed 13 goals against the Bees, conceding just two.

Rovers top goalscorer against Basildon is Paul Flack, who scored 5 goals in the 11 games he faced them.

Current Rovers boss Dan Trenkel has yet to score against Basildon in his three previous appearances but would love to add their name to the list of teams that he has scored against in what will be his 377th game for the club, should he play tomorrow.

If we take a look at the fixture tomorrow, with Rovers being at home, there have been 10 games, Rovers winning 7, Basildon 2 and 1 draw. Rovers have scored 21 goals, Basildon 14.
Last season's fixture at Burroughs Park saw Rovers win 3-0 thanks to goals from Jimmy Webb (pen), James Pugsley and John Mbamarah. James Pugsley, should he appear tomorrow, will hope he can replicate this as he remains the only regular first team player not to score for Rovers this season.
