Rovers statto Rob Lilley tells us of an interesting fact....

Such is how diverse this season has been for Rovers in comparison to last season or the season before that, it's hard to believe that at one point we were top of the table for 9 weeks in a season that saw us finish with a record number of points and just outside the play off places.
Yet here we are and in the middle of a season that we want to forget but a season that is bringing out determination and effort in players that appeared to be lacking as the season started.

But, as a supplement to our regular website feature 'Factual Findings', Rovers webmaster and statto Rob Lilley has confirmed an interesting 'find'.

"I was at the match last night and talking to a supporter, they raised an interesting question regarding how long it had been since they saw a goal by Rovers at Burroughs Park. Needless to say it was one of the things I checked after updating the site".

"So here we go. The last goal scored for Rovers at Burroughs Park goes back to our 1-1 draw against Harlow Town on the 17th December 2011, a goal scored by winger Tony Jacobs. Since then Rovers have played 5 games at home, failing to score in all of them. That's 450 minutes in total and blanks against Grays, Waltham Abbey, Ilford, Leiston and last nights match against Brentwood".

"The last barren scoring run was in 2005 when Rovers were in the Southern League Division 1 East when a similar 5 game run of blanks came to end thanks to J Ilett and a rare goal by current left back Adam Holmes to give Rovers a 2-0 home win against Barking & East Ham United".

"So in short, if Rovers fail to score against Heybridge on Saturday it will be the longest run without scoring in Rovers 'recorded' history."

However, manager Dan Trenkel will be upbeat following the Rovers display at Sudbury where he saw exactly what his side are capable of. Although a minor blip against Brentwood last night, we still saw Rovers put in a lot of effort and determination and that is a major battle won!!
