Media Manager Rob Lilley talks to Rovers new keeper Dale Brightly, a player much respected within the Rovers Management Team.

I managed to catch up with our new keeper Dale Brightly to ask a few questions......

Before arriving at Rovers you were training with Canvey. What was your thoughts about the season before Trenks' approach?
I was looking to have a successful season as the Canvey number one, hoping to establish myself over there for years to come. I wouldn’t go into too much detail but I was treated poorly at the start of the season and was not shown much loyalty so I knew after being dropped two games into the season without making a mistake that I had no future there.

When Trenks made the approach, what were your initial thoughts?
I needed to start enjoying football again and this could be the perfect opportunity. I had been injured for a month also so games were important and I did not initially think it would be a long term move but I have committed till end of season now and am looking forward to pushing for promotion with the club.

Having played at Rovers a few years ago, you had a small idea about the club anyway, but what are your thoughts now you've had a few games?
It was ten years ago when I was just getting my trade together really. It was a short spell so I hope for this one to be much longer. It's a lovely club with lovely people inside it, everyone pulling in the same direction and that is to get back to Ryman football. I think it is a pleasant place to be to play your football.

Are you impressed with the side Trenks has put together and do you think Rovers can continue and push for promotion?
He has put together a good outfit, I know a few of the lads from Concord Rangers days when we enjoyed a Ryman 1 promotion. I think the lads have a lot of talent and certainly need to make the step up. If there was ever a chance of the club getting promoted out of the ESL it is now. The boys are a good bunch aswell who enjoy themselves off the pitch and this is always important to have if you want success.

...and now a question that a lot of supporters will be asking. If Rovers do get promoted, would you consider registering solely for us?
If we get promoted then it would be a great challenge to remain at the club and would make good sense to me at this time. But depending on how things are going you never know what opportunities the future will bring so it would be impossible to commit 100% - promotion would certainly go a long way to helping.
