Rovers ex-captain and current Supporters Player of the Year has returned from Redbridge to become Player/Manager.

Rovers supporters are hoping Trenkel's return can spark a return to winning ways as the club are on a dismal run that has seen 8 straight defeats.

Trenkel has installed Danny Heath as Assistant Manager/Coach and James Haylock as coach.

Heath is well known within the club and highly regarded by both Rovers and Southend United and moves into an Assistant Manager role at the club. Haylock returns from America where he has trained/coached to UEFA-A standard.

Trenkel admitted “I’m delighted that the committee have entrusted this position to me and I will give it my whole hearted commitment to get this team moving in the right direction. There are some talented players at this club and for whatever reason this year they haven’t played to their full potential and I hope to get everyone performing at their maximum.

It will be a tough job but I have learnt some great things from great managers like Eddie Nash, Danny Scopes,Iain O’Connell and Terry Spillane and I will touch on that for inspiration. The messages I’ve received from Ryman Managers and players in the last few days has been nothing but positive and I hope that we can get the team morale at a really high level and turn this season around. Everyone starts on Saturday with a clean slate and they have to grab the opportunity to claim their shirt“
