Dave Collins last gasp penalty earns Rovers a deserved point

A Dave Collins penalty in the dying embers of the game earned Rovers a well earned point in a match which kept Dan Trenkels men unbeaten at home.

The never say die attitude in the second half was there for all to see and in fairness it was for Rovers to win in the final 10 minutes as Basildon defended resolutely from waves of Rovers attacks.

Basildon went ahead early in the first half through Ben Sartain as Rovers struggled to get a grip on the game, a thunderous drive into the far corner giving Dale Brightly no chance.

Although earning a point, Trenkel will rue the loss of defender Stuart Hepburn and midfielder Joe Skeels, both with a suspected broken foot. They join Nathan Fletcher who also broke a bone in his foot following a freak injury during a pre-match warm up at Stansted. We also learned today that forward Ashley Hawkins will be missing until January following a knee injury during a training session.

Full match report shortly.
