Rovers boss Dan Trenkel comments on Rovers 2-0 home defeat to Waltham Abbey

Saturday’s result was hard to take. In the first half we created plenty of chances to kill the game off but we just couldn’t find that killer touch. The game was very scrappy and unfortunately no one really took the game by the scruff of the neck and dominated. Our missed chances meant that we started getting a little bit nervy, as a lot of teams in our position do, and it showed I thought.

After Abbey opened the scoring it drained a lot of our boys and I was slightly disappointed with the reaction as we didn’t really have a proper go at them after that. After looking at our level of performance over the last 2 weeks it was hard to take seeing us drop a level in the second half on Saturday and the players all know they weren’t really at the races.

We can’t afford that to happen again, especially in the next 2 crucial games , and I’m sure we will be back to a higher level this week. The players were gutted at the final whistle but now we have to get back up and go again, as Ware will be confident going into Saturday, but we have nothing to fear and if we play how we have done recently we will get something.
