It was a hard fought game but we got the win. Deserved overall?
Absolutely. It was certainly an even first half but there was only one team in it in the second half.

It was a physical game and a true welcome to the ESL. Will players take anything away from it?
The physical side of the game is something we are going to have to improve. Ty apart I thought the boys weren't ready for what Basildon had to offer. We've focused so much on playing football and what the boys have to realise is that there will be teams who are out to "put themselves about" and we have to be prepared to match teams for effort and then hopefully the football should take over.

It's a great start to the season but what will you do to stop complacency setting in?
I won't do anything. The team know that currently we have a squad of 21 players, if they don't perform they all know there is someone itching to take their place. I don't have to say anything to them for them to see that.

We're billed as favourites for the title, but is that unjust?
Are we? Because as far as I've seen over pre-season it's all been about London Bari, Takeley, Enfield and Southend Manor.
We are confident in what we've got absolutely, and I hope that the team will prove all their critics wrong and have a successful season but it's one step at a time, and a lot of teams fancy themselves as Champions.

It was a clean sheet against a good side. How has that gone down with Louis and the defenders?
Clean sheets are always nice, they breed confidence, and I hope they continue as we should be a team that is built on defensive strength.

Another good performance by Jimmy Webb down the flanks, who got man of the match. How has he changed as a player since you were his captain two seasons ago?
Jimmy is such a talented boy. I've known him since he was 16 and he has just started to mature as a player. He knows that I know him, and more importantly he knows how much I believe in him, which I don't think he has always had in the past. I think we have a mutual respect for each other as manager and player and I will give him every chance to succeed. He is 22 now and I will help him move on as a player as much as he will help the team push on. People write Jimmy off too easily, but the boy is a matchwinner pure and simple. When he is on song there are not many people who can stop him.

It was a good all round performance. What is being taken into the game at Sawbridgeworth?
We are always confident , but Sawbridgeworth have never ever been an easy side to play against. They work hard, they score a lot of goals and at home are a tough proposition. But the lads are buzzing at the moment and it's a vital game for us.
