The Future

Like with many things in life, a fine wine is to be enjoyed and appreciated and with Dan resigning this week suddenly we all should treat it just the same and thank Dan for all the effort and time he has given Rovers in his career whether as a player or the Manager which was something he was passionate about and to say thanks for.

Unlike many clubs around at our level, I like to believe in trust and being consistent with our intentions when it comes to Rovers as well as the Colts and the Village of Great Wakering and this has shown over the last decade plus in the fact we have had only 4 managers (Ian O’Connell/ Ryan Wilkinson and Dan Trenkel) of which have served with the utmost distinction and service to the club.

In respect of going forward we can’t be seen to rush unless we feel confident but then again we can’t ponder over 6 weeks and see what happens, so I am determined to seek the right appointment for the club/ players and the progression of the future of this club and its stability!

I will say my email and phone over the last few days has been very busy with a staggering amount of applicants applying and provides as with food for thought but also complimentary in the fact that so many feel that Wakering is a Great club to be involved in with considering we are a Voluntary run club and not a financially controlled club by one individual or as a Company. At present we are approaching this appointment with a procedure in place and when we have the right candidate the announcement will come from the club first and not the rumour mill and social media! So until the clubs statement everything should be assumed as being subjective and scurrilous!
