Tough tackling midfielder may be sidelined for weeks

Rovers tough tackling midfielder Ty Benjamin could be ruled out for weeks after hobbling off mid-way through the second half of Rovers opening day 2-0 win at home to Tower Hamlets in the Essex Senior League.

Benjamin, who had a lengthy spell out last season looked assured during pre-season and was performing well in the middle of the park in his first competitive match back but suffered an injury to his knee after tackling back against a tough Tower Hamlets side.

The extent of the injury is yet to be diagnosed but he joins other Rovers players on the injury list, Dave Collins (3-4 weeks) & Adam Holmes (long term).

Rovers boss Dan Trenkel, who himself required 8 stitches to a head injury sustained in the first half admitted it was a tough blow for Benjamin. "Ty is a combative player who always gives 100% whether he be tackling or not. I'm hoping it's nothing too serious but I'm sure he'll battle back just as he did last season".
