Rovers 1 - 1 Romford
Points shared as winter kicks in at Burroughs Park.....
The spoils were shared as Rovers and Romford grabbed a hard fought point on a chilly afternoon at Burroughs Park. It was a fair result but neither team will be truly happy in this bottom of the table affair.
The game started brightly for the home side, John Easterford heading goalbound only for it to deflect off a Romford defender giving Rovers an early lead. Romford started to make in-roads and got their rewards when Chinedu McKenzie hit a freak overhead kick on the right hand side of the box which looped over Matt Belcher and into the bottom corner. The striker then hit the Rovers bar just after the half hour mark, the ball bouncing on the goal line.
As the second half started, so did the rain, making the conditions that little more entertaining. With neither side able to find the net, both teams were still intent on getting forward to score a winner. Rovers Jake Gordon came closest for the home side, with Rovers keeper Matt Belcher pulling off a wonderful reflex save to deny McKenizie's close range effort to keep Rovers in it late on.
