ROVERS MAKE IT THREE OF THE BEST

Rovers made it unbeaten in three after securing a comfortable win over already relegated Coggeshall Town, thanks to goals from Ben Search, Harry Talbot and Caiden Imbert-Thomas.

Rovers had the first opportunity of the game after seven minutes, Ben Search delivered a in swinging free kick on the left hand side of the penalty area which found Harry Talbot who crashed his header against the cross bar. However, rovers found the opener three minutes later.

Decent build up play from the back worked its way up through the midfield to Ben Search who played a one-two with Harry Talbot who fed the Rovers skipper into the penalty area and curled the ball into the left corner of the net.

Coggeshall then had the next chance after twenty minutes, a Coggeshall midfielder found their forward on the edge of box and forced the Rovers keeper Luis Shamshoum into a good low save to reserve their lead.

Rovers then started to get on top of the game towards the end of the first half. Good work from Callum Boylan managed to drive the ball towards the edge of the box found Harry Talbot who struck a low shot towards the bottom left corner drew a good save from the Coggeshall keeper. Harry Talbot then had another effort saved from the keeper just before the referee blew for halftime.

HALFTIME: COGGESHALL 0-1 ROVERS

The second half got off to a slower start compared to the first half. Both teams struggled to maintain possession and gave away needless fouls which disrupted the rhythm of the game. Callum Bloss and Ben Search went into the referee’s book for dissent.

Rovers had the first clear cut chance of the half after an hour of play. Good work from Harry Talbot played the ball to substitute Jake Gordon on the edge of the box and his shot was straight at the goalkeeper. Seven minutes later, Jake Gordon had the next effort. Dominic Locke played the ball from the left wing and found Jake Gordon at the back post but his effort again was straight at the goalkeeper.

Rovers soon doubled their lead fifteen minutes from time. Dominic Locke held the ball up by the corner flag on the right midfield and played the ball onto Harry Talbot who drived into the box and drilled the ball past the keeper into the left corner of the net.

Rovers were now on top of the game going into the last ten minutes of the game. Dominic Locke then had the next opportunity of the game after good work from substitute Caiden Imbert-Thomas played the ball through to Dominic Locke inside the area who drew a good save from the keeper’s leg. Ten minutes from time, the Rovers added their third.

Harry Talbot played a decent pass across the penalty area which Ollie Jenkins missed but the ball made its way to the back post where Caiden Imbert-Thomas was there to tap the ball past the keeper.

Rovers saw out the remaining ten minutes with decent spells of possession and good sweeping duties from Luis Shamshoum to ensure the Rovers made it three unbeaten.
