Bowers and Pitsea were given the guard of honour by Rovers before the game, however the hosts were not going to be intimidated by the newly crowned champions, Rovers started the better of the two sides and took the game to the visitors.
There were plenty of chances for both sides although Rovers looked the more likely to score early on, most of the play was coming down the wings with Jason Ring and Firmin Ngandu linking well together.
Half time Great Wakering Rovers 0 Bowers and Pitsea 0
There was definitely an end of season feel to the next 45 with play slowing from the first half, although both teams were still creating plenty of chances to win the game.
On 75 minutes the deadlock was finally broken when Martin Tuohy climbed the highest and headed the ball past Andrew Wilton in the Bowers goal ,the Green boys then looked the more likely to double their lead with Shomari Barnwell and Ngandu going close.
In the end Great Wakering deserved the 3 points, and travel to Dereham for the final game of the season were a win would see Rovers finish as high as 14th in their first season back in the Bostik North.
Congratulations also go to Jason Ring who picked up the supporters player of the season after the game.
