A mixture of reserves and youth players faced Rovers in this second round of the Essex Senior Cup and despite what appeared to be a monsoon at one point in the evening, both teams played entertaining football, as Rovers battled against a well drilled Chelmsford City side.
Ashley Hawkins toe poked a goal for Rovers after Jay Nash's flicked header cannoned off the bar. Hawkins managing to flick the ball over the keeper whilst under pressure.
However, Rovers, who were playing against a side that were three steps higher in the Non-League pyramid, found themselves under pressure for large amounts of the game but defended resolutely.
