Nash & Cleaver offer aid to unconscious Springett

Rovers forward Jay Nash was one of the first on the scene when Pheonix Sports defender Steve Springett was clattered into by Jake Gordon. Gordon, was at full pelt when jumping an incoming tackle, but inadvertently clashed with Springett, knocking the defender out cold.

Jay Nash takes on the story. "As soon as Jake and Steve collided, and Steve hit the floor, his eyes were twitching but nothing was moving. It was actually a video of a professional game that popped into my head where the first thing that happened was rolling the player into the recovery position and the second was to check the players tongue, so that's what happened. I got over to Steve, with the help of Jacob Cleaver, we moved him into the recovery position and I couldn't see his tongue so used my hand to get it out of his mouth."

Nash went on "I just kept asking him to stick his tongue out and keep talking to me. I saw him in the clubhouse after the game and spoke to him, he knew someone helped because he could recall someone talking to him about his tongue. It was quite a scary moment but I'm glad there was no other issues that came of it and Steve was fine!"

"I'm sure anyone else who was near him would have done the same!"

Rovers are pleased to hear, via Twitter, that Springett was nursing a headache today but was recuperating well.
